EFL TEACHER CANDIDATES’ INNER CIRCLE ENGLISH PREFERENCES AND THE FACTORS BEHIND THEM

The goal of the present study was to investigate English language teacher candidates’ Inner Circle variety (i.e., British and American English) preferences through their use in pronunciation, vocabulary, spelling, grammar examine individuals’ opinions on factors affecting adoption context Turkey. Following adaption instrument employed, data garnered from 158 pre-service teachers enrolled an education program at a state university Chi-square goodness-of-fit tests descriptive statistics were conducted for quantitative analysis, while content analysis used qualitative data. results indicated that candidates exhibited strong preference with respect pronunciation vocabulary neither had overall prevalence spelling grammar. Furthermore, contributing variant consisted elements such as perceived easiness variety, exposure popular culture media, attitudes towards particular in-class including materials. discussion relation literature, is concluded pedagogical implications suggestions future research.
